Step-by-Step: How to Change Your Furnace Filter

Turn off the Furnace: Safety first! Locate the power switch next to your furnace and switch it off. If you can't find the switch, turn off the power at your fuse box.
Locate and Remove the Filter: Your furnace filter is typically located underneath the furnace, behind a slotted ventilation cover. Carefully remove the cover - some furnace filters easily pop out while others need to be unscrewed first.
Check the Filter: Take a close look at the filter. If you can see through it clearly, it's still in good condition. If not, it's time for a replacement. Dispose of the old filter in a trash bag to minimize mess.
Buying a New Filter: Your furnace filter should have the size printed on it. We recommend brining the old filter with you to ensure you purchase the correct size and type at the hardware store.
Clean the Furnace Blower: Your blower is located beside your furnace filter.Before installing the new filter, take a moment to clean the area around the blower for optimal performance.
Install The New Filter: Insert the new filter into the space provided, making sure any directional arrows are pointing in the correct direction. Secure the cover back in place to enjoy improved air quality and energy efficiency.
